Mirko Ivanovski gets nod over Samir Fazli

Mirko Ivanovski will start today; photo: arka.gdynia.plThe speculation was that Samir Fazli would start as the lone striker in the Russia game but Toshack announced today that Mirko Ivanovski will get the nod over Fazli.

The formation is now official, John Toshack will field a 4-2-3-1 formation against Russia with the only change being Mirko Ivanovski taking the place of Samir Fazli as the lone striker.  Mirko does not have the build of Samir and looking at his size, you would think Mirko would be better suited at winger but he has actually been much more effective for his club team Arka by playing at centre forward.  The other players are exactly as what Nova Makedonija predicted yesterday on their website.

Here is the Macedonian formation:

Of the 19 players in Russia, one player was not going to make the bench and that player turned out to be Samir Fazli.  So, not only will Fazli not start but he also didn’t make the bench.  The seven players on the bench are Tome Pacovski (#2 keeper), defenders Daniel Mojsov, Igor Mitreski, and Robert Petrov, midfielder Muarem Muarem, and attackers Aleksandar Trajkovski and Ferhan Hasani.
