The coach that lead our U21 national team to a historical place at the 2017 EURO in Poland is back at his beloved job. He already lead the new generation at the friendly tournament in Turkish sea resort of Antalya, but today on an official press-conference was presented as national team coach.
“It is an honor that FFM decided to rehire me. We have a pretty tough group in which Spain is the absolute favorite, but it’s also a group where all other teams are more of less equal. We took part at the Antalya tournament where all players got equal chance. We played three matches and despite the results I am satisfied by how we behaved.”
In Antalya the young Lynx played three matches and recorded two defeats and a draw.
“Our goal is t reach the EURO. That doesn’t mean that we will put a pressure on the players that they must qualify. We are not Spain, Brazil nor Germany, but we have to seize every occasion that will be given to us.”
Milevski also talked about the domestic league where clubs tend to hire mediocre foreign players instead of giving a proper chance to those from their youth teams.
“I am very disappointed when I see that low quality foreigners get playing time at the expense of our young players. They are fielded because they come from abroad, not because they are better, with rare exceptions. We must value our young more. I will ask FFM to modify the U21 rule for the domestic league. You can’t substitute a U21 keeper in the first minute.”
Milevski also added that a friendly match against Finland has been arranged for 06 June. It will be played on neutral venue in Slovakia. The Federation will try to find at least one more opponent for that period. The team is preparing for the upcoming EURO 2021 qualifiers that for Macedonia will begin in September.
