According to the latest FIFA World Ranking, Macedonia is not part of the top 50 anymore and will finish 2008 on the 56th position after dropping seven positions from last months rankings.
After the record placement on the 46th position in October and last month’s 49th position, Macedonia lost 70 points on the ranking and will finish the year on the 56th position with 533 points. Main reason for the big drop of the Macedonian national team is the away defeat on the friendly match against Montenegro in November.
From our 9th qualification group for the World Cup 2010, Holland is the highest placed team climbing now up to the 3rd position, Scotland 33rd, Norway dropped 5 positions and is now placed bellow Macedonia on the 59th and Iceland is on the 83rd position.
European champions Spain holds the lead on the FIFA/Coca-Cola World ranking list, followed by Germany, Netherlands, Italy and Brazil.
