The Macedonian U21 national team continued with the unsuccessful results and failed to make a surprise away to England. After the extraordinary match that finished 6:3, Macedonia is on the last position in the qualifying group 9 with only one point.
Macedonia started well and it was Agim Ibraimi
who had the first chance on the match from a free-kick after nine minutes which Scott
Loach block away. But it didn't took too long for England to take the initiative and they successfully used the mistakes created by Macedonian defense and the poor goalkeeping. Arsenal's Theo Walcott created the opening goal in the 22nd minute when he managed to pass around the goalkeeper Kristijan Naumovski and lobbed to Kieren Gibbs who headed the ball in the net for 1:0.
The result was 2:0 on only seven minutes after the first goal with a very similar goal header but this time Micah Richards scored for England.
In the 41st minute, Macedonia lowered the lead as Maurem Muarem took a free-kick from the left side and the low ball somehow finished in England's net, passing by few players in the box.
The goal at the end of the first half gave boost for the Macedonian players and on eight minutes in the second half it was already 2:2. Michael Mancienne slipped and Agim Ibraimi used this occasion and equalized the score. But Macedonian players didn't celebrate too long as England again tool the lead in their next attack on goal. Gibbs sent a cross and Andrew Caroll diverted the ball in the goal for 3:2. Only four minutes later, Gibbs set his leg on the wrong place, diverting the ball from a corner kick into his net for another equalizer.
But that was all that Macedonia were able to do on this match. In the 67 minutes Zavon Hines scored for 4:3 escaping an offside. England didn't stop here and used the tiredness by Macedonian players and scored another two late goals. Carroll in the 87th and Hines in the 90th scored their second goals on this match for setting the final score. England U21 - Macedonia U21 6:3.
