Artim Sakiri is planing to end his career next season with a farewell match on Gradski stadium Skopje, that will be the biggest football spectacle in Macedonia. He will invite Luis Figo and Zinedine Zidane and other well known footballers to take part in his last football match.
The 34 years old Macedonian international currently is playing for Albanian side KF Besa Kavajë. He is the most capped player in the Macedonian national team with 73 appearances and has scored 15 goals.
He has played a few times in the charity exhibition matches of Figo and Zidane and he is hopping that both of them will come to Gradski and play a match there in his honor. On June the 7th this year in Tokyo, he will most probably play again in a charity exhibition match for the team called World Stars against Figo’s Team.
The world heard about Sakiri in October 2002 when he scored a goal directly from a corner kick against England in Southampton in a qualification match for the EURO 2004 in Portugal when Macedonia managed to get a 2:2 draw. His goal put end on David Seaman’s career and Sakiri was well remembered for that. During his career he has played in many clubs like West Bromwich Albion FC, Aalborg BK, Halmstads BK, FK Vardar Skopje, Malatya Spor Kulübü, PFK CSKA Sofia and others. He is also former captain of Macedonia.
