The Australian national team player from Macedonian origin, Mile Sterjovski, last week got the approval for the work permit and finally signed for Premiership club Derby County FC. His debut came last weekend when came in as substitute in the game against Tottenham.
Sterjovski came in Derby from Turkish side Gençlerbirliği OFTAŞ where he spent only 6 months. Previously Sterjovski played for FC Basel, Lille OSC, Parramatta Power SC, Sydney United FC, Illawarra Lions FC and Wollongong Wolves FC. He made a name of himself while playing for french side Lille where he made 91 appearances, scoring 15 goals.
Sterjovski played for Australia on the last World Cup in Germany 2006. Until now, he has played 34 matches for Australia scoring 5 goals. Due to his appearances for the Socceroos he is ineligible for the Macedonian national team.
His new club Derby is currenty on the last place on the Premiership tabble and already with one step in the Championship Division.
