The most interesting transfer took place right before the close of the transfer window as goalkeeper Dejan Iliev joined English giants Arsenal.
As strange as it may seem, Dejan Iliev has completed a transfer from Macedonian Third League side Belasica to English giants Arsenal. Dejan is a young, talented keeper who has been linked with several clubs from abroad, but has now joined a top club in Arsenal. Iliev has been training with the English club and showed enough to be offered a contract.
Dejan Iliev, although just 17 years old, came close to a big transfer last season. MacedonianFootball.com reported that Iliev was about to join Chievo Verona, from a reliable source in his agent Jovica Dimovski, but the move hit a snag and Iliev remained with Belasica.
Iliev hasn’t played for the Macedonian U21 national team yet, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him in the squad in the near future. Dejan, however, has been capped by the U17 and U19 youth national teams. As for Arsenal, he is first expected to play for the Academy, but manager Arsene Wenger is known for giving chances to younger players.
