After making the mistake with calling only 18 players for a friendly match, Srecko Katanec and the Macedonian national team are now facing squad problems with only 16 players available for the match against Serbia.
After the friendly matches against Serbia and Poland, the Macedonian football federation arranged a friendly match in Bosnia and Herzegovina as preparation for the World Cup 2010 qualifications.
Even though it’s a friendly match for testing new players and tactics, Srečko Katanec continued in his style and announced the 18 players list for the upcoming friendly match against Serbia with only one new name – Ivan Trickovski.
Serbian coach Miroslav Đukic announced the squad for the friendly match between Macedonia and Serbia that will be played on February 6th. There are only 3 new players in Serbian squad.
Macedonian and Serbian football federations have agreed to play a friendly match on February 6th in the preparations for the World Cup qualifications.
Macedonia will play a friendly match against Poland on 26th of May 2008. The football federation of Macedonia accepted Poland's offer and the game will be played on a neutral pitch in Germany.
Srecko Katanec has decided to accept the offer and continue coaching the Macedonian national team. Katanec will lead Macedonia in the World Cup 2010 qualifications.
Macedonia will host Scotland and Netherlands in the opening of the World Cup qualifications. The qualifications for the World Cup that will be played in South Africa in 2010, will start in September 2008.
After his contract expired, Srecko Katanec will make public the decision on the offer to retain the post of selector of the Macedonian national team until 20 December
The Macedonia national football team has been drawn in the qualification Group 9 for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, together with Netherlands, Scotland, Norway and Iceland.
