Gostivar lost in the first round of the promotion play-off the past season, but keeps believing in a first league come back. To realize that dream the team has made significant changes in the squad for the new season.
Some of the best players including top goalscorer Ilirid Ademi who joined newly promoted Makedonija GjP. He scored 19 goals last season to top both second league groups. There he was joined by midfielder Sabit Bilali. Central defender Hristijan Grozdanoski went to Sileks, winger Artan Veliu to Shkupi, first choice keeper Vulnet Islami to Korabi. Attacker Bashkim Ljama ended his loan and returned to Shkendija, while left back Liris Bedjeti is looking for a new club.
To compensate for these departures the board signed the same number of players. Winger Ljavdrim Skenderi (23-yo) came from Renova. Attacking midfielder Valon Zekjiri (22) comes back to Macedonia after spending two season in the Kosovar league. Central defender Antonio Ilieski (22) comes from Makedonija GjP in order to strengthen the back line. Osman Daci (21) last season was the first choice keeper of third league side Vardari who failed to win promotion because of a head to head record. His rival will be 19-year-old Artan Iljazi who is loaned from Shkendija. Also on loan, but from Shkupi, comes attacker Fati Ismailji (20).
The last signing officialized a day ago is central defender Dejan Velevski (24) who comes from Sileks, but the past half-season play on loan at Osogovo. He is the most experienced off all newcomers so far, not just by age but by career as well as before Osogovo he has also played for Sileks, Vardar (N), Novaci, Mladost (CD), Pobeda, 11 Oktomvri and Pelister.
