2019 Maso Cup draw made

Eleven confirmed participants were put into two groups as the draw for the traditional tournament for Australian clubs with Macedonian background took place earlier today.

Five clubs less than last year’s edition will participate in the 11th Maso Cup scheduled for 26-28 of this month. Holders Broadmeadow Magic got the easier group unlike 5-time winners Rockdale City Suns who got drawn together with hosts Queanbeyan City and famous Preston Lions who are still looking forward to their first Maso Cup trophy.

After not taking place last year,. back in the tournament are Newcastle Suns and Yagoona Lions. The later did participate last year but not in the main tournament, only in the Over 35 competition. Missing since last edition are: Arncliffe ScotsKeilor WolvesLalor United SlogaNoble Park, Plenty Valley Lions, Shepparton and Sydenham Park.

The top four from each group will qualify to the quarter-finals from where the knock-out stage begins. The matches will last 40 minutes with 20 minutes each half and a 5 minute half-time break. Seiffert Oval, home of Queanbeyan City will serve as main stadium, but few game will be played at nearby Campese Oval as well.

In the U20 competition 6 teams will taken place with all of them in a single group: Queanbeyan City, Rockdale City Suns, Bankstown City, Wollongong United, Altona Magic and Geelong. Their matches will be played at Campese Oval and three at High Street. The top four will proceed into the semifinals.

Eight teams features the Over 35 category. Group A consists of Queanbeyan City, Arncliffe Scots, Sunshine Lions and Lalor United Sloga, while Bankstown City, Shepparton, Rockdale City Suns and Yagoona Lions are in Group B. The top top of each group will advance into the semifinals. All matches will be played at High Street field except the final which will be at Seiffert Oval.
