Preview: Round 10

E-mail Print PDF
Sunday, 26th of October, afternoon - time for the macedonian football championship. Round 10 and its 5 matches are scheduled for this weekend.

Tumbe Kafe Stadium, Sunday, right at noon will be the place where we will see the 54th meeting between Pelagonija rivals Pelister and Pobeda. With live coverage on A2, this match is one of the more exciting in this round. Pobeda are more succesful in the historic mutual matches, but when Pelister are hosts matches are always more equal and very interesting. These two teams at the moment are neighbours on the table with 10 points each. Pelister are still undefeated at home with 10 points collected from 4 matches, while Pobeda have only won 1 point from the 5 matches they have played as visitors. Pelister had rather easy job during the midweek cup match when they hosted Turnovo and won 4-0, while Pobeda played tougher match against Makedonija Gjorche Petrov at home where the final score was 1-1. However, Pelister will have to play on this match without one of their best players - the Brazilian Miranda as he is still suspended after he got a red card.

Though Vardar are playing their home matches on Saturday, this time they have decided to host Metalurg on Sunday. However, that decision will not bring more fans on the stadium since Gradski when Vardar are hosts is still suspended after the incident that happened when Vardar was playing against Renova. Zikica Tasevski, Vardar's new coach, had rather unsuccesful debut after his team lost against Rabotnicki in the last round and played only 1-1 against Renova in the cup Wednesday. The match against rock-bottom Metalurg might be the chance for his first win as Vardar's coach. But, on the other hand, Metalurg is not the same team as on the beginning of the season. Experienced Gjore Jovanovski is their new coach and several very good players have been signed recently in order to help Metalurg start climbing up the table. Gjore also had unsuccesful debut with Metalurg as his team lost 0-1 against Milano in the cup.

This Sunday, there will be a first league football in Ohrid, too. Renova will host Rabotnicki in Ohrid after they got 6 matches suspension to play in Tetovo from the football federation of Macedonia. One of the more exciting matches for sure. Renova had played a tough match in the cup (against Vardar 1-1) while Babunski, the undefeated coach with Rabotnicki so far, had a chance to rest some players after their big win over Vardar in the league, and in the cup match against Nov Milenium he had made some variations to the squad. Together with Makedonija Gjorche, Rabotnicki is the only team without a defeat so far in the season but with 6 draws from 8 matches they are placed on the 5th spot, right below Renova who has 2 points advantage over them.

In Kumanovo, Milano will host Turnovo. Both teams with some problems over their heads. Milano's owner Bajrush Sejdiu has been arrested couple of days ago but players have probably not been affected by that as it has been visible when they won over Metalurg in the cup match 0-1. Dragan Bocevski is no longer coach of Turnovo, as Makedonski Sport reported today. His replacement is still not announced. Nevertheless, Milano are favorites for this match against the currently last-but-one placed team.

Napredok against Makedonija Gjorche Petrov is the last match in this round that will be previewed in this text. It was only the last round when Napredok noted the first win in this season in the match against Pelister at home. Makedonija are the current table leaders with 18 points on top of the table. Still undefeated and playing the best football so far, Makedonija are favorites for this match but visiting Kicevo  is always a tough mission for teams.

Sileks will be free in this round.
