The return leg match between Renova and Rijeka of the first round of intertoto cup will take place on Saturday 28.06.2008 on Gradski Stadium in Skopje. The first match ended 0-0.
Before the beginning of this 2-legged match Rijeka were counted as a strong favorites by football fans, experts and bookmakers. However, Renova have proven to be worthy of the challenge called intertoto cup and their European debut was crowned with a good result - 0-0 on Kantrida in Rijeka. The visitors on that match played very good in defense and did not allow Rijeka much space and deservedly kept a clean sheet. In the return leg such performance in the back should be repeated but the midfield should be much more creative and the attack more efficient if Renova is to pass the first obstacle. Renova will be hosts on the Gradski Stadium in Skopje as every macedonian team have officially applied Gradski as a stadium where they will play their home matches in european competitions. Gradski itself should not be a problem, but the fact that without floodlights (note - Gradski is under reconstruction) the match must be played by day teams might feel the heat of macedonian summer. However, weather forecasts say that little rain might come as a refreshment for Saturday. The visitors for this match will be without the bulgarian striker Georgi Ivanov and the midfielder Nikola Safaric who is injured. Renova will probably have to do without Pance Stojanov after he earned a broken nose in the first leg of this match. Rijeka looked like uninterested for this cup in the first match and maybe that is the reason why bookmakers have increased the odds for their win and lowered Renova's. 3 times the investment will return to You if You place money on Renova's win in Bwin.com. Rijeka is priced at 1.95, while another draw at 3.40. If we get to see another rather boring match with low number of goals (2 or less) that same bookie pays 1.75. As already stated, the kick-off is scheduled for Saturday at 17.00 CET. Referee will be Simon Lee Evans from Wales and his assistants Philip Bates and Brian James both from Wales.
