rabotnicki kometalFK Rabotnicki Kometal, one of the oldest Macedonian football clubs will celebrate the 70th anniversary. The main celebration will be on the friendly match against the Serbian club Vojvodina from Novi Sad on 20/11/2007.
The club was founded in 1937. For most of its existence it played in the Yugoslav Second Division, but following Macedonian independence it has played in the Macedonian First League. Rabotnički's most sustained period of success has been since it was taken over in 2001 by the Kometal company - it participated in the UEFA Cup in the 2001-02 season and reached the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League in 2005 following their victory in the national championship the previous season. Rabotnicki went on to win the national title again in 2006, leading them to preliminary Champions League qualification. They have had one of the most memorable runs in their history, defeating Dudelange of Luxembourg and Debrecen of Hungary before losing to French club Lille. They were eliminated from the UEFA Cup this season in the first round, having been defeated 2-1 on aggregate by Bolton Wanderers.
