Round 5 preview Print
Written by Darko Jankulovski
Saturday, 01 September 2007
The 5th round of Macedonian football championship is next and new excitments follow. "Gradski" in Skopje should be the most interesting place as the derby between Vardar and Makedonija Gjorche Petrov will take place there.
Vardar will take the role as a favorite before the beginning of the game, but Makedonija Gjorche Petrov has played well in the first 4 rounds, and certainly won't give up easy. Zoran Stratev, the coach of Vardar, will be looking forward to meet his 'old' team Makedonija - team that was led by Stratev in only the first round of this season's championship. Both squads are without particualr injury problems and this should be very interesting game to watch. Our prediction would be narrow home win.
Renova will be looking to earn new 3 points at home in order to return on winning tracks again. Rumours go that the coach Kostov has already been warned, so Bashkimi is the opponent that might change his destiny. The visitors have made the first victory of the season in the last round, and it certainly was an impressive one. But, they will have tough visiting in Sunday, as they have some smaller squad problems. Our prediction favours the hosts once more.
Napredok from Kicevo will be hosting Shkendija 79 and both teams will be trying hard to earn the first victory. Kicevo has proved a place too hard to play even for stronger teams then Shkendija 79, so probably it should be the hosts that will have the final laugh. Both teams have one or two doubtful players, but hopefully everything will be alright with them, and we will see real show in Kicevo. We will favour the hosts once more here.
Cementarnica 55 - the newcomer, will be hosting the champions Pobeda and this certianly looks like a tough game for both teams. Both teams didn't started well, and the hosts are yet to win, while the champion has only once felt the joy of victory. Close battle in 'Kisela voda' where the hosts as much as the visitors will like the win, so it very hard to call which team will be proudly leaving the stadium in Sunday. Maybe the visitors have the slightest advantage, but draw won't surprise us at all.
The game in Kratovo between Sileks and Milano will certainly attract lot of attention as two top-of-the-table teams meet here. Their difference so far is 3 points advantage for Milano, so with a home victory places on the table will be swaped. The two teams are without squad problems, so it will be one of the most interesting games here, that's for sure. Sileks will certainly want to earn 3 valuable points at home, but the visitors are flying high on the beginning of the season. This game could go either way is our opinion.
The match between Pelister and Rabotnichki is postponed due to Rabotnicki's (succesful) match in UEFA cup against Zrinjski in the last Thursday. This game will be played on Tuesday.

What to expect in 2009!? Another year has left and a new one has arrived. We can't say that 2008 was successful for the Macedonian football in general, but can we predict what will happen in this 2009? Maybe if we summarize all the events from last year we can at least have a good look in what should we expect to happen in 2009.  Details...

FFM, go after Amauri, Almunia and Streit! Because FIFA’s rules do not apply for the Macedonian football federation as they wanted to give Macedonian passports to foreign players Washington and Osa, we are suggesting that FFM should also try and get Amauri, Almunia, Streit etc in the Macedonian national team.  Details...
